As part of the ongoing review of clinical policies for all the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in Lancashire and South Cumbria, we are seeking feedback on the revised clinical policy for the commissioning of cosmetic procedures. Currently, each CCG has a number of smaller cosmetics related policies and these have been revised and amalgamated into one overarching cosmetics policy.
We are seeking views and comments from patients, the public and other stakeholders. This consultation is for a period of 12 weeks. The main proposal arising out of the revised policy is that the CCG will not routinely fund any cosmetic procedures or treatments that have the primary purpose of changing the appearance of a part of the body. Only cosmetic procedures where the intended purpose is to address a functional or medical problem would receive funding.
The draft revised policy can be found below. You are invited to read the revised clinical policy before giving your feedback. You can click on the link next to the policy in order to complete a short survey and give your views.
To help you we have also included a Level of Change document that identifies what has been changed in the updated policy compared to the current cosmetic related policies. The changes to current cosmetic policies differ across the CCG areas.

Your comments will be fed back to the CCG as part of the development process.
Open forum events are also being organised and you will have the opportunity to attend one of these. The date and location of this CCGs open forum event will be posted on the website in due course.
