Mental Health and Wellbeing of Children and Young People with SEND

Organisations in Cumbria are trying to improve their understanding of children and young people (0-25 years) with SEND, particularly autism, who have mental health/emotional wellbeing needs. This was highlighted as an area of weakness in the feedback from the SEND Inspectors.

We have gathered information from services and what some families have told us and put them together in one document. We are going to share this document with Senior Leaders to improve their understanding of the needs of these children and young people who need our support.

We would like to invite parents and carers to read this document and let us know if there is anything we have missed or if there is a message they would like to give to our Senior Leaders by filling in this short survey.

You can read the document here. An easy read version of the document is available here. (If you are interested in the data that we have from services as well, then you can read the full extended version of the document here.)

The survey will be open until 7 September 2020. After this all the results will be analysed and used to update the document.
