Learning Disabilities

Learning Disability Mortality Review Programme (LeDeR)

Morecambe Bay CCG and partners have a responsibility to conduct reviews for all deaths across the Morecambe Bay footprint of people with a learning disability from the age of four years.

The overarching aim is to improve the health, social wellbeing and care services for people with a learning disability and to eliminate inequality and incidents of diagnostic overshadowing (where a health professional makes the assumption that the behaviour of a person with learning disabilities is part of their disability without exploring underlying physical problems).

Learning Disability Mortality Review Programme (LeDeR) reviews provide Morecambe Bay CCG with the learning to influence change and improve local practice and deliver local system transformation.

The requirement for a locally focussed annual report was defined in the ‘The NHS Long Term Plan January 2019’.

Morecambe Bay CCG’s 2019/20 LeDeR Annual Report is available below. Once ratified by the Governing Body, Morecambe Bay CCG’s LeDeR Annual Report 2020/21 will also be available here.
